Home! It's great to be back!

Here are a few pics of our flight in a small plane (seats a total of 10 counting the pilot) over and around the summit of Mt. McKinley! You can see June, the pilot, and Lynda (l to r) in this one ...Jim was in front of Lynda, Cole was behind June, Dennis and I had the next row and the final row was filled by a man and his daughter.

The pilot told us that we were very lucky that most of the time the peak is covered with clouds and fog...It was a gorgeous day.)

Finally, we had to come back to our senses! We are at home again after 2 and 1/2 weeks of cruising, flying, shopping, and in general, having a superb time in Alaska! It is so very different up there. Probably the weirdest thing for all of us was the fact that it was light almost all the time outside...None of us could even imagine what it must be like in the winter time when it is the opposite of what it is now and is dark most of the time!

More to come...

I have other great pictures of this part of our trip to Alaska...

This morning we left Seattle right before noon and got back to the heat of Texas at 5:45 pm. I can hear the washing machine running and the Rangers on the TV in the other room--so it must be home. Jim will be home tomorrow and Friday and then start up again at work on Monday.
I'm happy to be home. Next week we'll be off to Nashville...

We had a wonderful time with our buddies, Lynda, Cole, June, and Dennis. We were blessed by their presence for this DREAM TRIP to Alaska and we are already thinking about our next trip together (even though we are sure it will be a while to save up the time and money to go to our next locale: either Hawaii or Panama Canal.) We have become big fans of HollandAmerica Cruise Lines. It was our favorite even though the Carnival cruise does have much better entertainment and that wonderful dessert of which we all actually may have overdosed on--Warm Chocolate melting cake.

Having a great time in Alaska...

This morning we disembarked in Seward, Alaska from our first of two cruises in Alaska. Here we are in a picture taken during an excursion in Skagway last week. Tomorrow we are renting an SUV and driving around Anchorage. On Tuesday morning we get up in Talkeetna and fly in a small 6 passenger plane over Mt. McKinley and to Denali National Park.

We are truly enjoying the gorgeous scenery here in Alaska! The first cruise was on a Holland America Cruise ship, the ms Ryndam....On Wednesday we will be on the Carnival Spirit until the 13 of June...then we should arrive back at home on the 14th of July.

more later....Cheryl
